The Wolff Cut: Rock n Roll Vibes
The wolf cut is on track to be the hottest haircut of 2022… and clients can’t get enough! A hybrid of a mullet and a shag, the wolf cut is a continuation of recent trends towards lived-in, organic texture and movement. It’s a perfect edgy style for guests who want those alternative, rock ’n’ roll vibes.
“The wolf haircut is a mix between a vintage shag and a slight mullet,” celebrity hairstylist, Sarah Potempa and founder of The Beachwaver Co. tells InStyle. “Essentially, it’s like taking two different periods (the ’70s shag and ’80s mullet) and smashing them together into a modern-day look.”
As its name suggests, the wolf cut is a little wild, thanks to loads of shaggy, wavy layers; and it’s fierce, courtesy of the ballsy shorter mullet-like layers at the front, which require a ton of attitude to pull off. The trademark is lots of volume at the top that tapers towards the bottom, finished off with heavy bangs or side bangs. The key is to look just the right amount of feral, giving the style a relaxed, cool-girl feel, but not so radical that the cut is impossible to style.
Don’t want to fully commit? Opt for a softer nod to the shape with a few choppy layers around the crown.
